Lime scale

Lime scale

What is called lime in “hard” tap water is dissolved calcium hydrogen carbonate (and magnesium salts). When the water is boiled, the hydrogen carbonate ion decomposes into carbon dioxide, water and a carbonate ion, decreasing solubility, and the calcium carbonate precipitates or deposits on walls. In the latter case, this is seen on the hot parts of a pan or the heating element of a kettle. This form of calcium carbonate is called limescale or scale.

If the module arrangement is correctly placed, the “cleaning process” starts first – ie the recently formed crystallized lime in pipes and on heating elements of equipment is, as it were, “soaked loose” and comes as a powder (in lime form) with the rinse water.
In the initial period, this could even result in slightly more limescale deposits on the visible parts. (this loosened lime is easier to wipe off by the way).
You can see this progression in the appendix “Lime deposits” – this shows the result of an average cleaning period – see appendix “Lime deposits”.

Even in (almost) new buildings (in use from 1 to a few days) the scale deposits in relatively new water pipes are extremely large. This is because the lime deposits many times faster on metal and plastic surfaces than on existing lime deposits.
In addition, in older buildings the old limescale can be quite caked, and it also takes time to soak off – which is why a long cleaning period is required to achieve a clear (maximum) effect.

Depending on eg. water hardness, water consumption, water composition, pre-existing limescale, old or new pipes, this cleaning process takes some time.
Usually a usage period of 4 – 6 months is sufficient to achieve a clearly visible/measurable result, sometimes a slightly longer period is needed to achieve a final result.
When all the old limescale is finally gone, the piping and equipment are clean internally and remain clean.

After installing the anti-limescale system, existing limescale gradually dissolves. This can mean a slight increase in lime in the initial phase.

How Physical Water Treatment Works

The anti-limescale system generates so-called “seed crystals” that are heterogeneous in structure, have a large surface area and have the property that they can be easily carried along with the water. They do not adhere to the walls of pipes and/or appliances that occur in the water installation.

In water that has been treated with an anti-limescale system, no hard deposits form on walls, valves, etc., but further deposition takes place on the seed crystals present. Old existing deposits are broken down slowly over time.
Clean pipes, properly functioning valves, heat exchangers, etc. considerably extend the life of your installation, and they also ensure lower energy and maintenance costs.

Technology

The system is installed on the outside of the pipe through which the water to be treated flows. This at some point in the process before the hard attack problems arise.

The very strong, dynamic magnetic field causes potential differences in the water, which ensure a very effective treatment of the water
This causes a disturbance in the structure of the water that flows through this field.

Below is a photo of the results without/with treatment with the anti-limescale system:

You know that when you try to hold two magnets with the same poles together, they repel each other. Due to the strong magnetic field of the AlpinPro® Anti-limescale system, all calcium and magnesium particles are negatively charged and repel each other. The lime particles remain ‘floating’ and do not settle on the pipes. After the water has passed the magnet, this charge remains active at 100% for approximately 70 hours.

In other words, this means that the crystal structures of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) are no longer crystallized as calcite, but as aragonite. The latter crystals are denser and harder in structure, but noticeably more soluble in water. The composition of the water therefore does not change.
The big advantage is that no ‘healthy’ elements are extracted from your (drinking) water and no harmful substances are added either.
Another great advantage is that old, existing limescale deposits in your pipes and on the heating elements of expensive equipment such as dishwasher, washing machine, combi central heating, Quooker, etc. are gradually broken down into a fine powder form and thus removed with the flushing water without blockages. to cause.

Everything will be clean and new limescale will have a better chance.

How does the AlpinPro® Anti-limescale system work – and what effects does it have.

Does the lime remain in the water? Yes, the healthy lime remains present.
First of all, the CA++ ions and CO3- ions present in the water will tend to attract each other to form the stable molecule CaCO3 (Calcium Carbonate).
In other words: limestone.
At the height of an installed AlpinPro® Anti-limescale system, the water will flow in a spiral shape along the balanced strong magnetic field.
This is done in such a way that the direction of the unique magnetic field of the AlpinPro® Anti-limescale System is perpendicular to the direction of the water.
The position and the uniquely balanced nano-flux magnetic field of the AlpinPro® Anti-limescale System reaches its maximum at that moment, giving enough power to
to give sufficient treatment to all the water flowing past.

The CaCO3 molecule undergoes a change in its crystalline structure as it passes through the special magnetic field of the AlpinPro® Anti-limescale System.
The result is that the structure between the Ca++ ions and CO3- ions is changed.
Or to put it simply: they come to stand in a different position in relation to each other.
The CaCO3 molecule no longer crystallizes in the form of hard lime but in the form of aragonite (structureless, amorphous powder, floating), which flows easily with the water.
Conclusion: Nothing changes in the composition and quality of the water.
Only the molecular structure of the lime has changed!

Faucets: When checked, you will notice that filters and shower faucets become lime-free.
Regularly brush or clean the ends of the taps and nozzles with soap – this to prevent that, when completely dry,
the loose lime powder sticks to the bottom.

Shower walls: Clean your walls after use. It often helps to rinse the wall with cold water, so that soap or shampoo residues also rinse away.
You will notice that this amorphous powder is very easy to remove.

Pressure cookers – kettle: Only fill these appliances with treated tap water and you will notice that the existing limescale starts to dissolve.

Coffee Makers: The reservoir should always be filled with treated tap water, even after use.

Washing machines: Do not add any more anti-limescale products. Use phosphate-free washing powders. Existing limescale will also disappear from the element.

Dishwashers: Adding salt (broxo) is no longer necessary.

Electric boilers: With limed boilers, the scale will come off the heating element and be drained off with the water flow.

Sense and nonsense about magnet anti-limescale systems

There are suppliers of magnets that “throw” with field strengths.
If you then do some detective work, it turns out that magnets are used that are even weaker in terms of field strength than a loudspeaker magnet.

The “danger” lies in the illusion that is created that the field strength of the magnet determines the effect of the Anti-limescale system – nothing could be further from the truth.

The field strength is by no means decisive – that is only a “small” part of the total operation, and then the question is whether that strength gives all the effects you would expect from a solid anti-limescale system. This field strength information is therefore irrelevant – and to avoid unwanted “comparison”, it is not wise to draw a conclusion based on “just a number”.

You can compare it with a Formula 1 car – the car with the highest top speed should always finish in 1st place, if we follow the reasoning of the comparison. However, many other factors – such as down-force, side-force, grip, rolling etc. etc. (besides of course a good driver…) play a role to eventually finish as the best.

So also with a magnet-based anti-scale system.

If it only depended on the field strength it would be easy – we put a super strong (possibly electro) magnet, and the best anti-limescale system is there.

So not: there are many other factors that ultimately determine whether the anti-limescale system has the desired effect (soft water – no limescale – dissolving existing lime, etc).
to give.

In our years of (further) development with our system since 1992, we have done a lot of research and developed unique techniques, and in addition to the Nano-flux Technology, we also make.
